Dr. Ash Bhatt, M.DDr. Ash Bhatt, Medical Director (M.D)

Ash Bhatt, M.D. joined The Recovery Place, Inc. as Medical Director from the University of Miami where he filled multiple roles in addition to being an Assistant Professor. Dr. Bhatt is a Board Certified Diplomate by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is also a Board Certified Diplomate by the American Board of Addiction Medicine and he was recently appointed to the courtesy faculty at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, at the rank of Assistant Professor. “I am looking forward to working with the clinical team at The Recovery Place,” said Dr. Bhatt. “I was drawn to the treatment center by the passion of the people working here and their commitment to the highest standards of quality patient care. We all share the same goals, and are deeply committed to assisting our clients to lead sober and productive lives.” Dr. Bhatt adds, “I am pleased that I will be able to utilize my training and skills in an environment that places high value on serving the needs of our client population.”

Peggy Robinson, Director of Utilization Review

Peggy is the Director of Utilization Review and is primarily responsible for overseeing the department which communicates with insurers that provide treatment authorization. Her staff includes seasoned, experienced clinicians who are charged with providing managed care companies accurate medical and clinical information for ongoing treatment approval. Dr. Robinson received her degree of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Irvine; her degree of Master of Science in Clinical/Community Psychology from the California State University at Fullerton; and her degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Education and Supervision from St. Mary’s University of San Antonio, Texas. She holds master level licensure in the states of Florida and California. Peggy has taught graduate and undergraduate courses as adjunct faculty, provided individual and couples therapy in private practice utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and managed court-referred adolescent residential programs.

Marianne Coy, Director of Business Operations

Marianne is responsible for all of the financial and purchasing activities of the organization. Marianne earned both a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems at Western Carolina University. Additionally she attained her Master’s degree in Accounting from Nova University. Ms. Coy has accounting experience in numerous industries; however the last twenty years have been in healthcare. Her extensive experience in healthcare accounting includes: leadership positions, complicated systems conversions and implementations, auditing of various financial information, key roles within project management teams for cost containment and the designing of useful reports for all levels of management.


Rob Fishman, Director of Admissions

Through his experience in an admissions environment at a local treatment facility, Rob quickly observed the dramatic impact that initial consultations can have with the addict and their family. This experience developed a passion to provide quick and expedient assistance to the sick and suffering addict. Rob began his tenure at TRP as an admissions consultant and based on his talent, quickly rose to a supervisory position within the department. Rob oversees the Admissions Department along with our Intake Department. Rob is currently in the process of becoming a certified addictions counselor in the state of Florida.


Daisy Baez, Director of Compliance and Quality Improvement

Daisy J. Baez has over 25 years of progressive hospital operations experience in a variety of settings including acute care, rehabilitation, long term acute care, behavioral health, and outpatient services. She specializes in compliance, performance improvement, licensing and regulatory guidelines, Joint Commission preparation, case management, clinical guidelines, quality management, strategic planning, and business development. Her multiple roles in hospital operations has led her to oversee a variety of departments and services. Ms. Baez holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s in counseling education from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. She is a veteran of the United States Army and has published several health related articles.


Stacy Zupan, Director of Community Housing

After 15 years of experience in customer service and management, Stacy chose to enter the substance abuse industry. Her initial introduction to the field came in the form of managing Sober Living Halfway Houses. Her desire to make an impact on newly recovering addicts drew her to work in the substance abuse treatment setting. During her tenure at a local facility she took on a diversity of roles that include positions in case management, medical and finance departments . Stacy’s supervision of The Recovery Place’s housing department draws on all of these significant experiences, bringing a supportive, safe and structured environment to our clients.


Maggie Cuevas, Director of Human Resources

Maggie was born in Youngstown, Ohio and joined The Recovery Place as the Director of Human Resources in 2009. Maggie received her associated degree from Youngstown State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. She has been in the field of HR for 36 years. Maggie relocated to Ft. Lauderdale in 2006 and worked as a practice administrator for Diagnostic Testing Group and in 2007 hired at Psychiatric Solutions, Inc., as their Director of Human Resources prior to joining The Recovery Place.


Cameron Ferguson, Manager Information Technologies

Cameron joined The Recovery Place in 2012. He comes to us with an extensive background in Data Communications and Information Technology. His experiences include Director of Information Technology with two very prominent South Florida Law Firms, a Cisco Engineer at an Internet Service Provider, and a Data Communications Systems Engineer with an International Data Communications Firm. Before relocating to Florida, Cameron worked as a Systems Engineer at The Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
